Members of St. John’s Methodist Church marked a significant milestone by holding their first service in their new building, albeit still under construction, on Easter Sunday. The congregation expressed immense joy and gratitude as they worshipped in their permanent site for the first time after a year of conducting services under canopies.
While speaking to the media, the Church Clergy, Reverend Presbyter Ogwo, described the occasion as a dream come true. “At least we will stop paying for canopies every Sunday,” he said, highlighting the relief the new building brings.
Mrs. Esther Ifeanyi, a church member, expressed her happiness, stating, “I am happy that we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ in our building. It’s a thing to give God glory.” Despite financial exhaustion, members like Mrs. Chizzy Samuel expressed gratitude for the progress made but emphasized the need for further support to complete the project.
Mr. Somtochukwu Freeman appealed to Governor Soludo to assist the church in completing the building, ensuring that the congregation can worship in a fully functional facility soon.
