‎The Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, has stressed the importance of empowering women through education, leadership opportunities and active participation in decision-making, describing it as a vital step towards strengthening institutions, shaping public policies and promoting sustainable societal development.
‎
‎Nnake made the assertion at HER Converge 2026, organised by the FutureHer Policy and Development Institute in Asaba, Delta State, on Oct. 28, under the theme, “Women. Power. Policy and Possibilities.”
‎
‎The convergence brought together distinguished women and professionals from government, business, law, education, entrepreneurship and other sectors to explore women’s leadership, their influence on policymaking and the opportunities created when women are empowered to contribute meaningfully to society.
‎

‎Speaking at the event, Nnake shared experiences from her leadership journey, highlighting her emergence as the first female Secretary to the State Government of Anambra State and the youngest SSG in Nigeria.
‎
‎She reflected on the dedication, diligence, determination and lessons that had shaped her career, noting that occupying a position of responsibility requires adequate preparation, courage, competence and an unwavering commitment to public service.
‎

‎The SSG expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to participate in a platform that encouraged women to share experiences, inspire one another and explore greater possibilities in leadership, governance and public service.
‎
‎She also commended the convener, Udoka Anita Ikebuwa, and other participants for their contributions to the discussions, noting that their engagements enriched the gathering and advanced its objectives.
‎
‎Nnake emphasised that women’s responsibility goes beyond breaking barriers, explaining that it also involves creating opportunities for others, strengthening institutions and establishing pathways for the next generation of leaders.
‎
‎She expressed optimism that greater societal progress could be achieved when women lead with purpose, integrity and a collective commitment to development.
‎
‎The convergence underscored the importance of sustaining platforms that promote women’s leadership, encourage cross-sector collaboration and advance discussions on inclusive governance, effective policymaking and sustainable development.
