The Winners of 2025 edition of the Ngozi Chuma-Udeh Annual Spelling Bee Competition have received cash prizes from the founder and initiator of the programme, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.

Austica Memorial College, Nanka clinched the first position, while St. Albert the Great Schools,Obosi came second. Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji secured the third position.

The competition, organised under the auspices of the Ngozi Chuma Foundation, is designed to reward outstanding students in literature and promote excellence in English language studies.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at Ministry of Education, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka, Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that the spelling bee is strictly a project of her foundation and not connected to her role as the Anambra State Commissioner for Education.

She explained that her passion for English and literary arts, as well as her commitment to giving back to society by promoting the love of literature, inspired the creation of the annual contest.

She expressed optimism that the competition would outlive her tenure in public office and continue to impact future generations.

Students from the winning schools, in their remarks, appreciated Prof. Chuma-Udeh for sustaining the yearly event, noting that it motivates them to study harder and deepen their understanding of literature. They also attributed their success to the dedication and competence of their teachers.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of cash prizes to the winning students and teachers.
