SID PARTNERS COOU TO ADVANCE DIGITAL SKILLS, AI IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

The Solution Innovation District (SID) has partnered with Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) to expose chemical engineering students to digital skills, artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation driven practices aimed at enhancing their global competitiveness.

The partnership was showcased during a Chemical Engineering Workshop held on July 21 at the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, COOU, Uli Campus.

The workshop, themed “Empowering Future Chemical Engineers: AI Tools, Digital Skills, Green Environment, and Chemical Products Manufacturing for Global Competitiveness,” focused on preparing students for emerging opportunities in engineering, technology and sustainable manufacturing.

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation and Chief Executive Officer of SID, Ms Chinwe Okoli, was represented by Mr Iyke Anajemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Innovation, who attended with members of the SID team.

Speaking at the event, Anajemba urged students to embrace AI, digital innovation and other emerging technologies to remain competitive in the evolving engineering profession.

He said the digital economy offered vast opportunities for young engineers and encouraged participants to acquire practical skills that would enhance their relevance in industry and entrepreneurship.

The workshop also featured presentations on green technologies, sustainable industrial practices and the application of digital tools in chemical engineering and chemical products manufacturing.

Participants commended the initiative, describing it as a valuable platform for expanding their knowledge of innovation and the future of engineering practice.
