Shanahan University has officially inaugurated its 2026/2027 academic year, alongside its Academic Excellence Awards, celebrating outstanding student achievements and encouraging a renewed commitment to academic excellence.
The ceremony, held on October 28, commenced with a Holy Mass presided by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Dominic Obielosi, who emphasised the importance of placing God at the centre of all endeavours.

A major highlight of the event was a keynote lecture delivered by Dr. Joseph Ikem Odumodu on the topic, “From Certificate to Competence.” He stressed that academic certificates alone are not enough, noting that practical skills, competence and the ability to deliver results are essential for success in today’s world.

The university also presented Academic Excellence Awards to outstanding students across various departments, with three students earning a perfect 5.0 GPA, reflecting their exceptional academic performance and dedication to excellence.
The university congratulated the award recipients and commended students and staff for their contributions to its academic growth and development.

As the new academic year begins, Shanahan University has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing academic excellence, developing practical competence and promoting values that support holistic education.
