‎The Rural Women Foundation (RWF) Nigeria has paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr. Chizoba Prisca Ezeasor, to brief the agency on its activities and ongoing interventions in primary healthcare facilities across the state.
‎
‎The visit, which took place on October 7, at the ASPHCDA office complex in Awka, focused on the Foundation’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects and followed previous collaboration between the organisation and the agency.
‎
‎Speaking during the visit, the RWF Programme Manager, Mrs. Dumebi Aduba, said the organisation had adopted a family-centred approach since 2003 to support vulnerable children and their caregivers in communities across six locations in Nigeria: Abuja, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Lagos.
‎
‎Aduba explained that the Foundation prioritised interventions targeting women and children in line with its mission to improve their lives through education, economic empowerment and the provision of essential social amenities.
‎
‎She noted that RWF’s key intervention areas included education, nutrition, economic empowerment, family planning, sexual and reproductive health, water supply and sanitation.
‎
‎According to her, the Foundation had been implementing water and sanitation projects since 2013, including interventions in several primary healthcare centres across Anambra State. The facilities include Oranto PHC in Ukpo, Ovollo PHC in Mbaukwu, Uboma PHC in Ukpor, Ukwulu PHC, Nteje PHC and Aguata PHC.
‎
‎The programme manager further disclosed that WASH projects at Obeledu Primary Healthcare Centre in Anaocha Local Government Area and Ora-Eri PHC in Aguata Local Government Area had been completed and were scheduled for commissioning in October 2026.
‎
‎She explained that the projects included solar-powered boreholes, overhead water tanks, modern toilet facilities, hospital beds, mattresses, pillows and obstetric beds, alongside the repainting of existing buildings within the health centres.
‎
‎Responding, the Executive Secretary of ASPHCDA, Dr. Chizoba Prisca Ezeasor, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for its support, collaboration and contributions to improving primary healthcare facilities across Anambra State. She emphasised that partnerships between government agencies and development organisations were essential to strengthening healthcare delivery.
‎
‎Ezeasor added that sustained collaboration would help improve the quality of primary healthcare services and produce better health outcomes for residents. The visit was attended by the RWF Country Director, Engr. Charles Ezeunala, and the Foundation’s Community Health Worker, Mrs. Onyinye Nwankwo.
