The Anambra State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association has unfolded part of its 2-year blueprint to enhance the medical profession in the state and beyond.
The State Vice Chairman of the association Prof. Osita Umeononihu in a press statement in Awka disclosed that the Dr Ndubuisi Arua’s led executive of the association is poised to take the medical profession to enviable heights.
According to the gynae Obstetrician Oncologist Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital Nnewi campus, the association is determined to ensure that doctors practice their profession in a safe environment.
He listed its other strategic plans to include working toward ensuring that doctors are adequately remunerated, reaching out to security agencies and the general public to establish a cordial relationship with doctors, and working assiduously to restore the fast eroding nobility and dignity of the medical profession as sacred
Prof. Umeononihu further disclosed that the association will invoke its disciplinary arm of authority enshrined in the NMA constitution to call to order erring doctors, pursue a public private partnership with government to execute some of its projects.
He also announced that the association will work toward ensuring that government offers soft loans to private medical practitioners to promote and update their medical practices.
