The Primary and post primary schools in the state have resumed the 2025/2026 academic session with renewed vigour in pursuit of academic excellence.
In the Awka capital territory, some schools were monitored to verify their response to the demands of the new academic session.
At St. John of God Secondary School Awka, teachers and students responded appropriately to the demands of the session in their various duty posts and classrooms.
The Manager of the College, Rev. Fr. Malachy Maduewesi in a press statement reported a 95% attendance and about 85% attendance by teachers and students respectively to school on Monday, September 8.
According to Fr. Maduewesi, in line with the state government’s directive, the college has maintained regular school activities on Mondays to keep the academic calendar moving.
The Manager announced some activities in the school calendar for the first term to include Investiture/Inauguration day for the orientation of students, talents exhibition programme, inter house competition sports programme for the second term academic session, others.
He affirmed that the college is a law abiding institution and keys into all government’s regulations and directives, including participation in all state and national celebrations such as the forth coming 65th independence anniversary of Nigeria.
At Comprehensive Science and Technical College Nawfia, the story was the same as teachers and students responded appropriately to the demands of the session.
The Principal of the college, Ven. Dr. Nnamdi Emendu in a press statement called for the customization of the WAEC laptops to monitor examinations organized by the Council and other academic engagements by the students.
Ven. Emendu worried by the declining population of male teachers in the primary and post primary schools in the state, advocated that financial inducements be given to all male teachers to attract them to the teaching profession.
The Principal further called for the provision of textbooks to schools to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for revamping the education sector and introducing reforms which have lifted the state to enviable heights in the sector.
At Igwebuike Grammar School Awka, one of the academic institutions designated as Smart Schools by the Soludo administration, the school management was busy admitting new students and dutifully engaging students to fit into the new academic session.
The Principal of the college, Mrs. Amaka Ifebili in a press statement, commended Governor Soludo for making the institution a smart school with state- of -the-arts facilities that go with it.
The college was a beehive of activities when the press visited it.
