The Mayor of Oyi Local Government Area, Hon. John Elochukwu Igbem, has urged council workers to demonstrate commitment, discipline and punctuality in the discharge of their duties.
Igbem made the call during a meeting with members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the council hall on Oct. 20.
He said dedication to duty was essential to building an efficient and productive local government administration, in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s public service reforms.
The mayor assured the workers of his administration’s commitment to improving working conditions and maintaining a cordial relationship with the workforce.

He urged them to resume work early, observe official working hours and take their responsibilities seriously.
Igbem also announced plans to conduct unscheduled visits to various departments to monitor attendance, assess staff commitment and ensure compliance with official working hours.
He warned that workers found neglecting their duties would be identified and held accountable.
The mayor called on the workers to support his administration’s vision of a productive, accountable and people oriented local government.
In response, the workers pledged their support for the administration’s objectives, including its vision of a greater, greener and more liveable Oyi.
Some of the workers expressed satisfaction with Igbem’s emergence as mayor, describing him as humble and loyal based on their previous interactions with him.
