The President General of Nzukora Nnewi Town Union, Hon. Prince Jude Osumuoh, has unveiled an ambitious development vision for Nnewi, calling for greater unity, stronger security, improved infrastructure and increased investment in youth empowerment.

Osumuoh made the call on Oct. 26 while delivering a keynote address to stakeholders in Nnewi North Local Government Area(LGA), describing the gathering as an opportunity to renew the community’s commitment to its heritage and collective future.

He noted that despite Nnewi’s rich cultural heritage, resilience and economic strength, infrastructure deficits and inadequate collaboration had continued to limit its development, stressing the need for a united approach to building a more prosperous community.

Highlighting achievements recorded under his leadership, the President General said the security workforce had increased from 21 to 54 personnel, alongside efforts to revitalise the security fleet and improve the welfare of security operatives.

He cited the acquisition of more than 1,000 seats for town meetings, describing it as a significant improvement after more than three decades.

Osumuoh commended the Mayor of Nnewi North LGA, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, for his proactive leadership and cooperation with the Town Union, noting that collaboration between the local government and community leadership was essential to achieving sustainable development.

Outlining his administration’s priorities, he announced plans to establish a modern civic centre, construct a community mini-stadium and revitalise the Nkwo Nnewi Triangle.

Other proposed initiatives include youth empowerment programmes, scholarships, skills acquisition and human.capital development, as well as road improvements across Nnewi’s four quarters.

He pledged to promote the Afiolu Festival as part of efforts to preserve the community’s cultural identity and strengthen its visibility, while fostering stronger connections among Nnewi indigenes at home and abroad.

On security, Osumuoh proposed strengthening the existing security structure through the provision of motorcycles for rapid response and communication equipment to improve coordination and emergency operations.

He announced plans to establish an Education Trust Fund to support academically gifted students and educational institutions, reinforcing the community’s commitment to education and future generations.

The President General urged Nnewi indigenes in Nigeria and the diaspora to embrace unity and the principle of Aku Luo Uno, which encourages people to bring their resources, knowledge and achievements home to support community development.

As part of this vision, he announced that the Town Union would officially launch Nnewi Ezuo on Dec. 31, an initiative designed to promote love, unity and collective progress among the people.

He expressed optimism that sustained cooperation among community leaders, the local government, stakeholders and Nnewi indigenes would help translate the proposed initiatives into meaningful development for the town.
