The Executive Chairman of Orumba South LGA, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, attended the annual Ogboji New Yam Festival held at the Palace of Onowu Ogboji.
Speaking to the press, Hon. Azubuike described the New Yam Festival as a symbol of unity, gratitude, and cultural identity. He lauded the traditional institution in Ogboji for its steadfast role in preserving the values of the people, stressing that the festival remains a unifying force across generations.
The Council Chairman pledged that the Local Government would continue to support initiatives that promote culture, tourism, and community development.

On his part, the Onowu of Ogboji, Chief Kay Anyachor expressed deep gratitude to God for a fruitful harvest season and commended the resilience of the Ogboji people. He emphasized the spiritual and cultural significance of the New Yam Festival, urging all sons and daughters of Ogboji to participate actively in the activities lined up.
He, thereafter, offered prayers for peace, prosperity, and progress in Ogboji, Anambra State, and Nigeria at large.
On their part, the immediate Transition Chairman of Orumba South, Prince Neville Uchendu, President General of the Ogboji Community, Hon. Ndu Nwaedozie expressed deep appreciation to the guests that graced the occasion. They called for renewed efforts to ensure the survival of this age-old festival and expressed hope that the unity displayed during the event would continue to grow among the people.

The event, which featured traditional displays of masquerades, dances, Arts and competitions was attended by an array of dignitaries including Traditional Rulers of Uga and Aguluzechukwu, Ndi Onowu Anambra State, Ndi Ichie Ogboji, Religious Leaders, and Government Functionaries.
