The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, has commended the Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, for his contributions to grassroots governance and leadership.
Nwankwo gave the commendation during the public presentation of Ibekwe’s book, Vision, Leadership, Service: Building a Greater Anaocha, A Blueprint for Transformative Governance at the Grassroots on Sept 30.
Representing Nwankwo at the event, the Director General of the Dozie Nwankwo Campaign Organisation, Chief Titus Akpudo, described the publication as a reflection of productive leadership, experience and intellectual depth.
Akpudo said the book provides practical insights into local government administration and offers ideas that could contribute to sustainable development at the grassroots. He therefore encouraged leaders across the various levels of government to study and apply its principles.
In his remarks, the author, Mayor Ibekwe, said the book was inspired by his desire to create an intellectual and documentary legacy for Anaocha Local Government Area. According to him, the publication goes beyond documenting projects, as it also examines the ideas, decisions, challenges and sacrifices that have shaped his approach to governance.
“I wanted to do more than govern; I wanted to document. I wanted to leave behind a record that would allow the present generation, and generations yet unborn, to understand what we attempted, what we achieved, the challenges we encountered, the decisions we made, and the sacrifices that accompanied them,” Ibekwe said.
The mayor expressed appreciation to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for giving him the opportunity to serve, noting that the experience enabled him to translate the governor’s vision into practical initiatives at the grassroots.
The event attracted dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, and the APGA State Chairman, Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who also commended the publication and described it as a valuable contribution to the documentation of grassroots governance and leadership.
