The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, has called on the Women Initiative for Greater Anambra (WIGA) and Care Noble Sisters Awka to sustain their partnership with the ministry in advancing the welfare of women and vulnerable groups across the state.

Onyekesi made the call when the two groups paid courtesy visits to her office in Awka on June 1.
The WIGA delegation was led by the Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Amaka Obi, while Care Noble Sisters Awka was represented by its leaders, Mrs. Mercy Okafor and Mrs. Amatu Ifeyinwa.

The commissioner urged the groups to continue supporting the ministry through credible community based information that would strengthen its intelligence gathering efforts in line with the state government’s ASPIRE agenda.

Responding on behalf of the groups, Obi and Okafor commended Onyekesi for her achievements since assuming office and encouraged her to remain steadfast in delivering the ministry’s mandate.

They pledged their continued support and solidarity, stating that their visit was also to pray for the commissioner and wish her success in office.

Obi further advised Onyekesi not to be distracted by criticism on social media but to remain focused on her responsibilities, noting that she remained a valued member of the national women’s committee.

As part of the visit, the groups presented gifts to the commissioner. WIGA presented a pull up banner bearing her image, while Care Noble Sisters Awka presented her with a life size statue.
