‎Two newly inaugurated councillors of Onitsha North Local Government Area have pledged to provide responsible leadership, promote cooperation and contribute to the development of their respective wards and the council.
‎
‎The councillors, Hon. Megafu Francis John Nnamdi of Ward 5 and Hon. John Paul Okongwu of Ward 14, made the commitment while speaking with journalists in Onitsha North Local Government following their inauguration on Oct. 6. Megafu described the swearing-in ceremony as a significant occasion and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Ward 5.
‎

‎The councillor, who also serves as one of the Deputy Leaders of the Legislative Council, pledged to provide effective representation, carry his constituents along and discharge his responsibilities with diligence. He further assured that he would work closely with and support the Mayor of Onitsha North, Hon. Emelie Ibekwe, in the administration of the council.
‎

‎Similarly, Okongwu, who was sworn in as Deputy Majority Leader, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him through his election and inauguration. He pledged to contribute his quota to the development of Onitsha North Local Government and work harmoniously with his fellow councillors and the new mayor.
‎

‎“I pledge to contribute my own quota to the development of Onitsha North Local Government while working together with my fellow councillors and the new mayor,” Okongwu said.
‎
‎He also called for prayers for the mayor, the people of Onitsha North and the Governor of Anambra State, urging God to grant the new legislative council the strength, wisdom and grace needed to discharge its responsibilities effectively.
