The Deputy Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Chairman, Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Benjamin Okeji has given a nod to the decision of the South East Traditional Rulers Council to abolish the use of the title “Eze Igbo’ for Igbos living in the Diaspora.

According to Igwe Okeji who doubles as the Traditional Ruler of Omasi, the title of Eze is sacrosanct to only recognized traditional rulers who have a kingdom domiciled in Igbo land and Igbo speaking communities.

For respect to prevail, the royal father advised that the decision of the council should be strictly adhered to and should not be seen in any bad light.

He urged the affected Igbo leaders to accept the “Onyendu Ndigbo’ title carefully selected by the Southeast Traditional Rulers Council for clear demarcation of functions to prevail.
