The transformer was officially received on July 3 by the President-General of the community, Hon. Chukwuebuka Okonkwo.
The project, which residents had anticipated for years, is expected to address the community’s longstanding power challenges and provide a more stable electricity supply to Okpunoeze and other communities connected to the 33KV line, including Uru, Umudimkwa and neighbouring areas.
Speaking after receiving the transformer, Hon. Okonkwo expressed gratitude to members of the community whose financial contributions made the project a reality.
He assured residents that installation would commence soon, bringing the community closer to enjoying a more reliable and efficient electricity supply.
To demonstrate transparency and accountability, the President-General disclosed that the total cost of purchasing, transporting and installing the transformer, including installation fees already paid, amounted to N22,410,000.
Hon. Okonkwo noted that the successful acquisition of the transformer was made possible through the collective efforts and financial support of members of the Okpunoeze Community, describing the achievement as a reflection of the community’s unity and shared commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of residents.
