The Obosi Development Association, USA (ODA-USA), has constructed a security control room for the Obosi Security Smart City Initiative and awarded scholarships to 34 indigenes of the community to support their tertiary education.
The inauguration of the security facility and the presentation of scholarships took place on October 22, at the Obosi Town Hall, attracting a large gathering of indigenes and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka III), expressed appreciation to ODA-USA for its significant contributions to the development of the community, particularly in the areas of education and security.

Describing the occasion as a special day for Obosi, the monarch commended the association for executing various projects aimed at improving the welfare of the people and prayed for God’s blessings and rewards for its members.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee (OSMFC), Rtd. Col. Sam Agbanusi, praised ODA-USA for establishing the security control room, expressing confidence that the initiative would strengthen security and enhance crime prevention in the community.

He disclosed that the security project, which cost millions of naira, comprises a control room located at the Obosi Town Hall and surveillance cameras installed at strategic locations across the community to support crime prevention and detection.
The OSMFC chairman also urged political actors in Obosi to conduct their activities with maturity, wisdom and a sense of responsibility, stressing that political ambitions should never be pursued at the expense of human lives.
According to him, politics should not be treated as a do-or-die affair, adding that no individual’s political ambition is worth the blood of either Obosi indigenes or non-indigenes living in the community.
In a related development, 34 Obosi indigenes received educational scholarships to enable them to pursue their academic aspirations in tertiary institutions, underscoring ODA-USA’s commitment to promoting education and investing in the future of the community’s young people.
