The management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) South East Zone has paid a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, during which it presented him with an Award of Recognition for his outstanding contributions to the legal profession and justice sector reforms.
The visit took place on June 24, at the Attorney General’s office within the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Speaking during the visit, the Zonal Director of NTA South East Zone, Mr. Patrick Chukwuemeka Iro, explained that the award forms part of the organization’s tradition of recognizing distinguished individuals in host states whenever the zonal management holds official engagements there.
According to him, the recipient is selected by the NTA Zonal Manager in the host state and must be an individual who has demonstrated excellence in academics, made significant contributions to society, or introduced impactful reforms within their profession.
Mr. Iro described Mr. Nweke as a worthy recipient of the honour, citing his remarkable achievements in the legal profession, including his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) at the age of 39, making him one of the youngest SANs in Nigeria and the youngest from Anambra State.
He noted that the Attorney General has earned widespread recognition for the reforms introduced in the state’s criminal justice sector since assuming office, expressing confidence that more transformative initiatives would emerge under his leadership.
The Zonal Director disclosed that the NTA South East Zone oversees eight stations located in Awka, Onitsha, Aba, Umuahia, Owerri, Okigwe, Enugu and Abakaliki.
Responding on behalf of the Attorney General, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. T.C. Ikenna, welcomed the delegation, expressing appreciation for the recognition accorded to the commissioner.
He assured the NTA team of the ministry’s continued cooperation and support whenever the need arises.
