The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has honoured the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, with the Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Leadership Award for her outstanding leadership and youth-friendly initiatives.
The award was presented at the State Secretariat Complex, Awka, where NYAN commended Prof. Chuma-Udeh for her contributions to nation-building and her supportive role towards Nigerian youths.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, thanked the association for recognizing Prof. Chuma-Udeh’s efforts. She praised their vision of “One people, One destiny,” stressing that the values that unite Nigerians are stronger than the things that divide them.

The NYAN President, Comrade Godiya Adams, described Prof. Chuma-Udeh as a “natural representative of our generation,” noting that her leadership style has given hope to young Nigerians at a time when youths face exclusion from national affairs.
“To us, especially northern youths, she is more than a mentor and role model—she is proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Adams said.
He further stressed the importance of investing in youth and education as tools for national development.
According to him, Prof. Chuma-Udeh met all the criteria for the award, having prioritized youth empowerment and shown fairness to all.

The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria is the umbrella body for youths across the 19 northern states and the FCT, guided by the principle of “One people, One common destiny.”
