‎The Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education (NOCEN), Nsugbe, Prof. Victor Ifeanyi Obiora Ndirika, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare, describing it as a critical factor in enhancing productivity, institutional efficiency, and overall growth.

‎Prof. Ndirika made this known on Wednesday, June 3, while receiving the National President of the Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education (SSUCOEN), Comrade Danladi Ali Msheliza, during a courtesy and congratulatory visit ahead of the Special Congress and Election of the SSUCOEN NOCEN Chapter.

‎Speaking during the visit, Comrade Danladi underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the College Management and the union in fostering industrial harmony and advancing the welfare of staff, particularly non-teaching personnel. He commended the Provost for his inclusive leadership style and open-door policy, describing his administration as fair, responsive, and supportive of union activities since assuming office.

‎The SSUCOEN National President also lauded the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for the infrastructural developments recorded at the College, noting that the interventions have significantly contributed to the institution’s advancement and improved learning environment.

‎In his response, Prof. Ndirika expressed appreciation to the SSUCOEN National President and the union’s General Secretary, Comrade Nwaenyi Leo Isioma, for the visit and their continued commitment to staff welfare and institutional development.

‎The Provost noted that his extensive experience in various administrative capacities across Nigerian universities has provided him with valuable insight into the challenges confronting the education sector and the expectations of staff members.
‎
‎He reiterated his administration’s determination to promote staff development through regular participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, and other professional development programmes. “Continuous training equips staff with contemporary administrative competencies and exposes them to global best practices. Staff welfare remains a top priority of this administration.”
‎
‎In his vote of thanks, the Acting Bursar of the College, Mr. Tony Aniebo, expressed gratitude to the SSUCOEN leadership for the visit and commended the union’s consistent advocacy for improved staff welfare and professional advancement.
‎
‎The engagement highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive partnership between management and staff unions in promoting industrial peace, strengthening institutional governance, and enhancing working conditions within tertiary institutions.
