The Department of Linguistics, Igbo and Other Nigerian Languages, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), has successfully concluded its 2026 project defence for final-year students of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The exercise, held on Sept. 23, provided the students with an opportunity to present their research work, receive constructive feedback and obtain academic guidance ahead of the final submission of their projects.
The projects covered various areas of Igbo language and linguistics, literature and culture, with the students demonstrating extensive research, commitment and understanding of their chosen topics.

During the defence, the students confidently responded to questions from the panel, reflecting the months of preparation, research and academic guidance they received from lecturers in the department.
The Head of Department, Dr Princess Ndibe, commended the lecturers for their dedication and commitment to mentoring the students and ensuring the successful completion of their academic projects.
Dr Ndibe also encouraged the students to become proud ambassadors of the Igbo language and culture, urging them to use the knowledge acquired during their studies to create opportunities and inspire younger generations.
The department described the project defence as successful and expressed appreciation to God, the lecturers, students and everyone who contributed to the success of the exercise.
