The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, on August 8 distributed medical equipment to over 34 health centers across the LGA in a major boost to primary healthcare delivery.
The intervention was part of the council’s commitment to improving health service delivery and making quality healthcare accessible to every resident of Nnewi North.

Items presented to the health centers included hospital beds, delivery beds, mattresses, bed sheets, weighing scales for adults and babies, surgical ward robes, and other essential medical equipment.
Speaking during the presentation, the Mayor, who was represented by the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Okoli, charged the management of the beneficiary health centers to make proper use of the equipment for the benefit of their communities.

She emphasized that the gesture aligns with the “Solution Agenda” of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and reaffirmed that the Nnewi North council will continue to do its best to ensure healthcare services are accessible and affordable to all.
“This administration is committed to strengthening our health system from the grassroots. It will help our nurses, midwives, and doctors serve you better”, Okoli said.

Also speaking, the Supervisor for Health, Nnewi North LGA, Hon. Mrs. Uche Nwokenagu, expressed joy over the intervention. She described it as a “wonderful and timely” investment in the health sector across the local government.
She thanked the Mayor for prioritizing the wellbeing of mothers, children, and patients who depend on the PHCs daily, and urged health workers to maintain the new equipment.

The distribution was well received by heads of the health centers and community stakeholders, who described it as a direct impact project that will reduce referrals and improve service delivery in Nnewi North.
