The Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba, has commended the people of Nimo for their resilience, communal harmony and commitment to preserving their cultural heritage.
Ononiba gave the commendation on Aug. 22 while celebrating with the community at the 2026 New Yam Festival in Nimo.
He described Nimo as a shining example of unity and cultural preservation, noting that traditional festivals provided opportunities to strengthen brotherhood, promote peace and preserve community identity.
The mayor urged the people to sustain the traditions handed down by their forefathers, stressing that unity and peaceful coexistence were essential to the development of the community and the local government area.
He also called on Nimo residents to continue supporting progressive initiatives and maintaining the peace and stability for which the community was known.
Ononiba expressed confidence that, with the continued support of traditional rulers, political leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders, Nimo would continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of Njikoka and Anambra State.
Dignitaries at the event included Dr Jude Akpua, member representing Njikoka Constituency II in the Anambra State House of Assembly; Dr Ikechukwu Okakpu (OKD Jnr), APGA 2026 mayoral candidate for Njikoka; political appointees and party leaders.
