The Njikoka Local Government Council has sealed the Enugwu-Agidi Town Secretariat and taken temporary custody of the facility following an escalating leadership dispute and concerns over the safety of public property in the community.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the mayor, Hon. Prince Chidolue Nwankwo, the council said the action followed credible security intelligence received on monday concerning the dispute. The council subsequently alerted relevant security agencies, who deployed personnel to secure the Secretariat and prevent unauthorised access or damage to property.

According to the statement, both factions involved in the dispute were invited by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ikechukwu Okakpu (OKD Jnr.), for an emergency meeting and arbitration.
During the meeting, one faction claimed to have obtained a court judgment recognising its position, while the other maintained that it had not been furnished with the judgment and could therefore not accept the claim.
The council said neither faction was able to produce the actual judgment before it, making it impossible to reach any administrative determination on the matter at that stage.
Consequently, the council directed that the Secretariat remain closed to both factions pending clarification of the legal position. Both parties were also directed to submit relevant court documents, including the judgment and any documents relating to a stay of execution, appeal or other pending legal proceedings, for proper examination.
The council stressed that neither faction had been authorised to take possession of, access or operate from the Town Secretariat at this time, adding that its position was guided by security, peace, facts and due process.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that the matter is handled impartially and in accordance with the law, while urging all parties to respect the legal process pending resolution of the dispute.
Those who attended the emergency meeting included Hon. Ebuka Onuorah, Barr. Anthony Chuka Nwogbo, Kingsley Obiora Onweli, Barr. Onwuemena Mmaduka, Clement C. Nebolisa, Ozo Dozie Igweonu, Hon. Gozie Aweson, Dr. (Barr.) Johnson Obuzor, Okoye Benedict J.C. and Emeka Ementa.
