‎The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi, The Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, has urged Nigerians to pray fervently for the country and make informed choices as the next election approaches on October 2.
‎

‎Bishop Ikeakor made the call during the October Freedom Prayer Breakfast organised by the Anglican Diocese of Amichi to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
‎
‎Leading the congregation in prayers for the nation, the Bishop said the forthcoming election required earnest prayers, particularly for the electoral process and the ability of citizens to elect leaders wisely.
‎

‎He expressed concern over the socio-economic challenges facing Nigerians, noting that despite the country’s 66 years of independence, many citizens continue to grapple with difficult living conditions.
‎
‎Bishop Ikeakor also raised concerns over Nigeria’s rising debt profile and its potential implications for future generations. He questioned the continued accumulation of debts at a time when the country is already heavily indebted.
‎

‎The bishop cautioned Nigerians against allowing gifts, money or other forms of inducement to influence their electoral choices. He urged citizens to carefully assess their options and vote responsibly.
‎
‎Speaking on the theme, “True and Total Freedom,” with John 8:32–36 as the biblical text, Bishop Ikeakor described freedom as one of humanity’s greatest needs. He identified spiritual, moral, mental and emotional bondage as major forms of captivity, stressing that a person could be physically free while remaining bound in other areas of life.
‎

‎Addressing youths, the Bishop urged them to shun laziness and addictions, including drug abuse, smoking, pornography, excessive social media use and sexual immorality. He encouraged them to give Jesus Christ a place in their lives, maintaining that freedom from sin is essential to experiencing true freedom.
‎
‎The prayer breakfast attracted a large turnout, including Dame Nkem Ikeakor, Mama Amichi Diocese. The October Freedom Prayer Breakfast is one of three special prayer breakfasts organised annually by the Anglican Diocese of Amichi.
