NDIKELIONWU COMMUNITY URGED TO SUPPORT GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES, MAINTAIN PEACE

By Dr. Onyinyechi Edokwe

Stakeholders from Ndikelionwu Community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State have been urged to continue supporting government developmental programmes in the area and shun all forms of violence capable of disrupting peace and progress in the community.

The call was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and Supervisory Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, during a meeting with a delegation from Ndikelionwu Community at the Light House, Awka, on May 12.

The delegation led by Mr Nwabuona Ogbaji, visited the office to introduce the Eze-elect of Ndikelionwu Community, Barrister Ekeneme Obidigbo Ike, formally express support for the State Government’s developmental projects in the community, and notify the government of their decision to withdraw the court case instituted against the State Government over the extension of the tenure of the immediate past President-General of the town union.

The group also appealed for government intervention to ensure a peaceful and successful President-General election as well as the smooth enthronement of the Eze-elect.

Addressing the delegation, the Permanent Secretary emphasized the need for unity, peace, and cooperation among stakeholders in the community, stressing that government developmental initiatives can only thrive in an atmosphere of stability and mutual understanding.

He recalled that another delegation from the community had earlier visited his office to introduce a different Eze-elect, Venerable Rex Kanu, highlighting the need for due process and peaceful resolution of all issues surrounding the traditional leadership of the community.

The Permanent Secretary assured the delegation that their requests and concerns would be adequately communicated to the appropriate authorities for fair, timely, and objective government intervention.

The delegation expressed appreciation to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for siting the project in their area and pledged continued support for the administration’s development efforts.
