The Anambra State Chapter of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), led by its President, Dr.Ugochi Chilaka, on June 16, paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, at the Council Secretariat.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Chilaka said the engagement was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the Council on key health interventions, particularly in the areas of maternal and child healthcare, school health programmes, and free medical outreach services in Nnewi North.

She noted that MWAN remains committed to improving the health and well being of residents through preventive healthcare initiatives and community based medical services.
In his response, Hon. Anazodo commended the association for its dedication to humanitarian service and healthcare delivery. He assured the delegation of the Council’s full support for forthcoming health campaigns and interventions targeted at women, children, youths, and the elderly, especially those living in rural communities.
The association highlighted its key areas of focus to include cervical and breast cancer screening for women, deworming and immunisation programmes for school children, mental health awareness and drug abuse prevention campaigns for youths, as well as support services for pregnant women in hard-to-reach communities.
MWAN also disclosed plans to organise a free medical mission in Nnewi North as part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare.
The visit further underscored the Mayor’s commitment to effective healthcare management and improved service delivery across the Local Government Area.
