An aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Afam Uzoegwu, has paid glowing tribute to mothers across the globe as the world marks Mother’s Day, describing them as “the mirror of every family and the foundation upon which society stands.”
In a goodwill message released to commemorate the occasion, Uzoegwu applauded the resilience, sacrifices, and unwavering love demonstrated by mothers in nurturing homes and shaping the moral fabric of society. He noted that mothers play a central role not only in raising children but also in sustaining peace, unity, and progress within communities.
According to him, A mother is a mirror in the family. She reflects the values, discipline, and love that hold the home together. When the mother stands strong, the family stands strong, and by extension, the society becomes stable.
The APGA chieftain emphasized that the contributions of mothers often go unrecognized despite their critical role in nation-building.
He called for greater appreciation, support, and empowerment of women, stressing that investing in mothers is synonymous with investing in the future.
Uzoegwu further urged governments at all levels to implement policies that protect the rights of women, promote maternal health, and create opportunities for women to thrive economically and socially. He also encouraged families to celebrate and honor mothers not just on Mother’s Day but every day.
“As we celebrate today, let us remember that motherhood is a lifelong commitment filled with sacrifices that cannot be quantified. Our mothers deserve our respect, care, and gratitude at all times,” he added.
He concluded by wishing mothers across Nigeria and the world a joyful celebration, praying for strength, good health, and continued fulfillment in their roles as pillars of the family and society.
