Mothers have been urged to rise to their responsibility of building Christian homes by honouring their husbands and raising godly children.
The wife of the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Dr. Mrs. Martha Chioma Ibezim, made the call in her 2026 Mothering Sunday message delivered by the parish priest, Revd. Ejike Asogwa, at the Basilica of Divine Grace Anglican Church, Nibo.
In her message titled “Dependable God: The Source of Mothers’ Strength,” Dr. Mrs. Ibezim described mothers as the pillars of every home, tasked with the responsibility of raising God-fearing children even in a complex world.

Citing Book of Proverbs 31:10–31, she noted that a Christian mother deploys every necessary strategy to inculcate moral standards and credibility in her home while drawing strength from God.
The Bishop’s wife urged mothers to put their confidence in God and depend on Him through faith and obedience so that they may be emulated like the virtuous women in the Bible.
Also referring to Book of Psalms 27:1–6, Mrs. Ibezim admonished mothers to rely on God in order to make a positive impact on society by raising responsible children.

According to her, their trust and obedience to God would help them overcome the challenges facing their homes.
The high points of the celebration included drama presentations, dance performances, and other side attractions by the women and children of the church.
