The annual Weslyan Girls’ Rally of Idemili South Local Government Area was held on May 16, 2026, at the Methodist Cathedral, St. Andrew’s, Awada, as part of activities leading up to Children’s Day on May 27.
The event brought together Weslyan girls and young women, aged 9 to 30 and above, from across the Archdiocese for a day of spiritual fellowship and healthy competition. Activities included quiz contests, choral speech, march past, and singing competitions. Trophies were presented to the overall first and second-place winners at the close of the event.

Addressing participants, a clergy member emphasized the importance of unity among children in the church to advance God’s work. “Togetherness among the children of God upholds love, and where love is built, greed and jealousy have no place”.
She noted that the rally offered an opportunity for children from all circuits of the Archdiocese to unite as one in preparation for Children’s Day, stressing that giving children the chance to work together in the house of God would help them understand the value of unity.

The wife of the Methodist Archbishop of Onitsha, Mrs. Zipporah Onoh, stressed the need to train the girl-child in the spirit of unity so that she could carry the same values into her future home and family life.
By the end of the event the Cathedral Circuit emerged first among the seven circuits that make up the Archdiocese, while Trinity Circuit secured second position.
