The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, on Friday, October 9, 2026, attended the formal unveiling of digitised reflective vests and identity cards for public and private park/terminal workers and the commencement of digitised MOT numbering, enumeration and profiling of intra-state commercial vehicles by the Ministry of Transport in Awka.

Speaking at the event, Mefor described the initiative as a practical demonstration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of a livable and smart mega city, and hailed the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Eddy Ibuzo, for translating policy into action.

“I recall that at our first or second ANSEC meeting, the Commissioner for Transport made a case for digitalisation of the transport system in Anambra. I was wondering how that would happen, and I am seeing it live now. When he reports progress at ANSEC, I will corroborate and say I am a witness,” Mefor said.

Mefor said the most critical gain of the digitalisation is security, noting that the new dashboard will serve as a backup to the state’s call centre, allowing citizens to copy vehicle numbers and relay information for swift government action.

“For me, the most important thing in this whole arrangement is security. It is very fundamental. Security is about intelligence. That is why we say if you see something, say something and government will do something. That is what this dashboard will actualise,” he stated.

The Information Commissioner said transport and commerce are the two most critical sectors for actualising the Soludo agenda, stressing that how a people organise their transport reflects their level of civilisation and is key to building a state where Ndi Anambra in the diaspora will want to return to live, work and invest.

He assured the Ministry of Transport and its partners of the full cooperation of the Ministry of Information in publicising the reforms, while Transport Commissioner Hon. Eddy Ibuzo declared that “Anambra is on the rise” and that the reform is a mission for all.

“There is one Anambra, one mission. Transport is life. Even before commerce, because you must come out before you see the market. So transport leads,” Ibuzo said, adding that from now till December, the state aims to fully digitalise the sector to enable accurate planning and to justify infrastructure requests.

“This is part one. We will see part two and three,” Ibuzo added.
