The Executive Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has called for stronger collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms of government to advance development in the area.
Mayor Anazodo made the call on September 16, during the valedictory session of the Nnewi North Legislative Council held at the Council Secretariat, Nnewi.

The session, presided over by the Leader of the Council, Rt. Hon. Chijioke Nwizugbe, provided an opportunity for the councillors to present their stewardship and account of their 24-month tenure representing their respective wards and the local government area.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Anazodo commended the councillors for their commitment to the development of Nnewi North, noting that the harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms had contributed to the passage of bye-laws, motions and policies aimed at promoting peace, order and development in the area.

He said his administration recognised the importance of a vibrant legislature in a democratic system, adding that this informed the decision to renovate and equip the legislative chamber to provide a conducive environment for effective legislative activities.

Mayor Anazodo urged the councillors to sustain the spirit of cooperation and people-oriented representation, stressing that continued synergy between the two arms of government would contribute to the achievement of the development aspirations of Nnewi North.

In his remarks, the Leader of the Council, Rt. Hon. Chijioke Nwizugbe, on behalf of the councillors, thanked the Executive Mayor for his support, open-door policy and respect for legislative independence.
Nwizugbe described the administration’s relationship with the Legislative Council as productive, noting that the support received from the Executive had enabled the council to discharge its responsibilities effectively.

The event was attended by the President-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon. Prince Jude Osumuoh; Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Okoli; President of Umudim Community, Chief Uzochukwu Anyadiegwu; President of Nnewichi Community, Engr. Sir Emmanuel Chukwueloka; APGA Chairman, Nnewi North, Hon.
