In a bid to improve access to quality healthcare for vulnerable residents of Aguata Local Government Area, the Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, has enrolled 120 indigent persons into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) Adoption Model.

The enrollment exercise took place at Ajams Community Hospital and was aimed at providing affordable and accessible healthcare coverage to less privileged members of the community.

Speaking during the event, the representative of the ES/MD of ASHIA, Mr. Izuchukwu Ogbaji, commended Dr. Ofobuike for embracing the ASHIA Adoption Model and demonstrating commitment toward the wellbeing of the people of Aguata.

He noted that the initiative would go a long way in reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses for the beneficiaries while ensuring that they have access to quality healthcare services whenever the need arises.

Mr. Ogbaji also sensitized the newly enrolled beneficiaries on the importance of utilizing their health insurance coverage appropriately and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunity to seek timely medical attention.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Abuchi Orabuche, expressed gratitude to the sponsor and ASHIA for the gesture, describing the enrollment as a relief to many indigent families who struggle to afford healthcare services.

The event featured registration and issuance of enrollment details to the beneficiaries, marking another milestone in ASHIA’s drive toward achieving universal health coverage in Anambra State.
