Dr. Alex Obiogbolu has called on leaders to adopt a service-driven approach to governance as Christians mark Maundy Thursday, a day symbolizing humility, sacrifice, and compassion.
In his message, Obiogbolu referenced the biblical account of Jesus Christ washing the feet of His disciples, describing it as a defining example of leadership rooted in service rather than authority. He said the act remains a timeless lesson for those in positions of responsibility.
He noted that Maundy Thursday goes beyond religious observance, serving as a reminder of the values needed in society, including selflessness, empathy, and commitment to the welfare of others.
He added that the significance of the day also reflects the depth of sacrifice required of true leadership.
Obiogbolu urged political, community, and institutional leaders to prioritize the needs of the people, emphasizing that leadership should focus on service and not personal gain.
He also reiterated that his aspiration to represent Anambra North Senatorial Zone in the Senate is guided by a commitment to people-centered policies and inclusive development.
The former commissioner encouraged citizens to reflect on the message of the season and promote a culture of service and accountability in leadership.
