‎In a move to promote environmental cleanliness and strengthen responsible waste management at the grassroots, KA ANYI DOZIE ANAMBRA (KADAVAN) has donated waste receptacles and bins on Oct. 5, to Udoka Community Primary School, Enugu-Agidi, Anambra State.
‎
‎The initiative is aimed at supporting the environmental objectives of the Anambra State Government and the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, particularly its efforts to promote clean and green communities across the state.
‎
‎Speaking during the presentation, the leader of KADAVAN, Dr. Okey Nwuche, said the organisation comprises concerned citizens of Anambra who have volunteered to take ownership of their environment through social reorientation and value reformation.
‎
‎Nwuche explained that the donation was also part of KADAVAN’s efforts to take environmental sensitisation to the grassroots, particularly schools, where pupils can develop responsible waste management habits and appreciate the importance of environmental protection from an early age.
‎
‎The Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, commended KADAVAN for the initiative, describing it as an example of the community partnership required to complement government efforts and accelerate sustainable development.
‎
‎Aguiyi noted that providing waste bins in schools would encourage proper waste disposal, improve hygiene and help reduce indiscriminate dumping of refuse within school premises.
‎
‎He added that if more schools across Anambra adopted similar waste management practices, the initiative would contribute significantly to creating cleaner, healthier and more conducive learning environments for pupils.
‎
‎The Headmistress of Udoka Community Primary School, Mrs. Stella Nwosu, expressed appreciation to KADAVAN for selecting the school as a pilot beneficiary, noting that the gesture would reinforce the principles of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among pupils.
‎
‎Nwosu also commended the Commissioner for Environment and the State Government for supporting initiatives that promote cleanliness in schools, while urging organisations and well-meaning individuals to emulate KADAVAN by supporting environmental programmes in schools and communities. She said the donation represented a practical demonstration of the Clean, Green and Sustainable Anambra vision.
