INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT APPOINTS ANAMBRA PERMANENT SECRETARY, MARTIN AGBILI, AS CLUSTER LEAD

The International Association of Disaster Management (IADM) has appointed the Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Works, Engr. Martin Agbili, as the Cluster Lead of the Chemical and Petrochemical Risk Management Cluster under the IADM Industries Alliance Committee (IAC)

The appointment, announced by the international body, recognizes Agbili’s outstanding contributions to disaster risk management, industrial safety, and public service. In his new capacity, he will lead the Cluster’s activities in strengthening chemical and petrochemical risk management while advancing industrial safety, emergency preparedness, and effective response strategies to technological and industrial hazards.

According to IADM, Agbili’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities will play a vital role in promoting global best practices in chemical safety and enhancing collaboration among disaster management professionals and stakeholders across industries.

Reacting to the appointment, Agbili expressed profound appreciation to the International Association of Disaster Management for finding him worthy of the international responsibility.

“I sincerely thank the International Association of Disaster Management (IADM) for this appointment as Lead Cluster of the Chemical and Petrochemical Risk Management Cluster.
I wholeheartedly accept this responsibility and remain committed to working with stakeholders to promote disaster risk reduction and contribute toward building a safer and disaster-resilient environment,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary also conveyed his gratitude to the International President of IADM, Hamidreza Fazlali, for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as both an honour and a call to greater service.

Agbili’s appointment is expected to strengthen international collaboration in disaster risk reduction, particularly in the area of chemical and petrochemical safety, while further projecting Anambra State’s contributions to global disaster management initiatives.

The appointment has been widely welcomed by colleagues and stakeholders, who described it as a well-deserved recognition of Agbili’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to advancing disaster management and industrial safety at both national and international levels.
