The Basilica of The Most Holy Trinity Cathedral, Onitsha was agog as Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Sisters 1965, 1975 and 2000 set jubilarians double as Pilgrims of Hope and Jubilarians in this great year of the Church.
The celebration on September 21 was attended by people from diverse backgrounds, both locally and internationally, showcasing a broad and enthusiastic gathering.
Delivering a heartwarming homily, the Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, emphasized the importance of serving one master, prioritizing God in all aspects of life. He warned against exploiting the needy and vulnerable, highlighting God’s judgment on those who misuse their positions.

“Prioritize God in all aspects of life, rather than serving Him part-time. Recognize that all gifts and resources come from God and should be used for the benefit of others. The rich can help the poor in this life, while the poor can help the rich in the life to come.”
The prelate advised the jubilarians to reflect, seek forgiveness, and forgive others to ensure a bright future.
In a welcome address, the Mother General of IHM sisters, Rev. Mother Maureen Akabogu, expressed gratitude to God for life, journey mercies, and the joyful celebration of the sisters’ jubilee (Diamond, Golden, and Silver).

She also thanked the Archbishop, Most Rev. Okeke for welcoming them to his palace and sharing a wisdom-filled homily, which emphasized the importance of choosing to serve and putting God in all aspects of life.
The mother general commended the clergy, lay faithful, friends and well wishers, especially families whose daughters are celebrating their jubilee for their support and presence.

At the reception, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Donatus Anumba (Sr. Beth’s youngest sibling), thanked God for the celebration of the Rev. Sisters’ jubilees (25, 50, and 60 years) and honored them for maintaining the decorum of sisterhood, expressing gratitude to the bishop, clergy, jubilants, government officials, traditional rulers, and other guests.
He praised Sr. Beth’s dedicated life and service, describing her as soft-spoken, amiable, gentle, loyal, and blessed with a gold heart. He noted her impactful work in music and prayed for her continued growth, good health, long life, and inner peace.
Dr. Sylvester O. Anumba, Sr. Beth’s eldest brother, in his family goodwill message, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for her 50-year journey in religious life. He commended her obedience, perseverance, and dedication, saying, “You made us proud, and to God be the glory.” He prayed that God would continue to guide and accompany her on her spiritual journey.
The Amawbia Central Pastoral Council, chaired by Rev. Fr. Michael Onwukike, prayed for God’s continued guidance and blessings on Sr. Beth’s life and ministry. They hoped this milestone would fuel her passion for service and inspire future generations.

Anambra former Head of Service, Barr. Harry Udu, praised the event, noting that achieving a Golden Jubilee is remarkable. He expressed optimism about Sr. Beth’s future milestones, praying for God’s continued guidance and support.
Engr. Raphael Nwadije gave glory to God for the successful event and good weather, praying for Sr. Beth’s all-round blessings to fulfill her calling.
The Mother General received heartfelt appreciation from families and communities for her dedication and service. A cultural dance troupe added a touch of glamour to the event, showcasing vibrant traditional dances and music. Such performances not only entertain but also preserve cultural heritage and promote unity.
Sr. Beth, who hails from Amawbia Ugbogiliga in Awka South LGA, Anambra State expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for gifting her with her religious vocation and sustaining her “yes” to Him over the years. She humbly sought forgiveness for her shortcomings, thanked her mother Mary, and pledged her enduring love. She prayed for God’s continued blessings on her religious and biological families, as well as those who supported her journey.
