The Igbedor Development Union and delegates from Ataokaku and Igbedor communities in Anambra West Local Government Area have appealed to the Anambra Government to address challenges affecting schools in the communities.
The delegation, led by Mr. Egwuda Francis, made the appeal on Sept. 1, when they paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, in his office in Awka.
The community leaders raised concerns about the conditions in which pupils and students learn, stressing the need for improved facilities and a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
They said greater collaboration between the government and the communities would help in identifying the specific challenges facing schools and finding practical solutions.

The delegation commended the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for its attention to the education sector and congratulated Ogugua on his efforts since assuming office.
Responding, Ogugua thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them that the concerns raised would be looked into.
He said the state government remained committed to improving teaching and learning conditions across the state, adding that the peculiar needs of individual communities would be considered in addressing challenges in the sector.
The commissioner stressed that improving education required cooperation among government, communities, school authorities and other stakeholders.
Ogugua said the administration would continue to work toward ensuring that children across the state had access to safe and supportive learning environments.
