IDEMILI SOUTH MAYOR INAUGURATES ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION TASK FORCE

The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Amaka Obi, on June 19, has inaugurated an Environmental Health and Sanitation Task Force to strengthen environmental cleanliness and promote a healthier, more sustainable ecosystem in line with Governor Soludo’s environmental vision.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Mayor charged members of the task force to discharge their duties with integrity, dedication, and fairness. She emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal, environmental sanitation, and regular clearing of overgrown bushes to prevent health hazards and maintain a clean environment.

Hon. Obi warned against misconduct, stressing that any member found acting outside the law would face appropriate sanctions. She urged the team to lead by example and contribute meaningfully to making Idemili South cleaner and healthier.

The Head of Department of Environmental Health, Mr. I.K. Ogbasanya, encouraged the task force to work diligently and without prejudice to achieve optimal public health outcomes. He described the initiative as a crucial step towards improving environmental standards across the local government area.

Also speaking, the Head of Local Government Administration, Comrade Victor Orji, called for proper equipping and identification of the task force members to enhance their effectiveness. The Supervisor for Environmental Health, Hon. Chibuike Nzenwa, urged the team to see the assignment as a service to humanity and remain committed to their responsibilities.

Other stakeholders, including Mrs. Ocheze Alaokwu of the Community Health Department, advised members to use their authority responsibly and promote positive environmental practices.

On behalf of the task force, Mrs. Grace Chukwulobe expressed appreciation to the state and local government leadership for the opportunity to serve and pledged the team’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness across Idemili South.

The inauguration was attended by senior officials of the local government, staff members, and other stakeholders.
