A newly renovated four-classroom block at Community Primary School, Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area, has been commissioned as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen foundational education across Anambra State.
The project, executed by the Idemili South Local Government Chairperson, Iyom Amaka Obi, was formally inaugurated on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.
Speaking at the commissioning, Prof. Chuma-Udeh restated the state government’s resolve to give every child access to quality learning environments, stressing that education remains the bedrock of every meaningful success. She noted that Governor Soludo’s early decision to recruit qualified teachers on merit underscores his commitment to rebuilding the sector.
The Commissioner commended Iyom Amaka Obi for what she described as effective grassroots representation of the Soludo administration, particularly through prudent use of local government resources to improve public schools.

Governor Soludo, in his message delivered by the Commissioner, also disclosed that Nnokwa is among the communities earmarked to benefit from the establishment of additional public schools, aimed at expanding free and accessible education across the state.
In her remarks, Iyom Amaka Obi said Nnokwa is one of several schools upgraded under the local government’s ongoing renovation programme. She emphasized that the administration’s investment in education reflects its belief that “no society can progress without strong educational foundations,” urging community members to support the reforms.
Other speakers, including the Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu; Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council, Mr. Valentine Mbadugha; President General of Nnokwa Community, Mr. Modestus Ogbuezi; and the school’s headteacher, Mrs. Maureen Nnoli, praised the council chair for her dedication to improving learning conditions.
The event featured a tape-cutting and unveiling of the project plaque by the Education Commissioner, officially declaring the renovated classroom block open for use.
