The Anambra State Ministry of Transport on June 22, organized an orientation programme for Park Monitors and Enforcement Team members to strengthen professionalism, accountability, operational efficiency, and effective transport management statewide.

Representing Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo by his Special Adviser, Mr. Offor Obiora, highlighted the importance of park monitors in maintaining order and efficiency.

He explained that park monitors are responsible for supervising daily operations, verifying registrations and approvals, ensuring compliance with government directives, documenting activities, and reporting violations for appropriate actions.

Mr. Obiora stressed that the ministry expects park monitors to remain dependable partners in promoting safety, discipline, transparency, and effective service delivery across motor parks and transport facilities.

The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, urged participants to uphold integrity and professionalism, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to eliminating unethical practices through accurate reporting and responsible conduct.

Head of Transport Operations, Mr. Christopher Okeke, provided an overview of transportation modes and regulatory responsibilities, highlighting the functions of agencies including ARTMA and Vehicle Inspection Officers.

According to him, ARTMA oversees traffic control and management, while Vehicle Inspection Officers ensure that vehicles operating on public roads meet prescribed safety standards and remain roadworthy.

Resource persons presented innovations in transport administration, including technology-based monitoring systems designed to improve oversight, data management, passenger tracking, vehicle monitoring, and internally generated revenue collection.

Technical Consultant Mr. Ejike Nwafor disclosed plans for electronic payment integration through ASIN numbers, while Enforcement Team representative Mr. Obi Achalla appreciated the initiative and pledged commitment.
