The Anambra State Ministry of Transportation has unveiled a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at strengthening transport management, enhancing security, and upgrading infrastructure across the state.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Honourable Commissioner for Transport Edward Ibuzo convened operators of public and private motor parks, mass transit operators, transport companies, and other stakeholders at the Anambra State Secretariat Complex. He presented measures to boost operational efficiency, enforce regulatory compliance, and strengthen public safety.

Ibuzo announced a transition from the current framework to an advanced “Transport Management 2.0” system designed to deliver faster, more efficient, and accountable service delivery. Discussions focused on the regulation of transport facilities, including motor parks, loading bays, parking areas, and bus stops, as well as plans for the annual revalidation of facilities and vehicles to meet safety and operational standards.
“To drive transparency and streamline operations, the ministry will upgrade transport infrastructure and equipment while introducing digital solutions such as electronic payment platforms and management applications,” Ibuzo said.

Security remains central to the reform. The commissioner stressed the need for stronger law enforcement to maintain order, curb illegal activities, and protect public spaces. The meeting also addressed unauthorized collections and other enforcement challenges affecting the sector.
“To improve responsiveness, the ministry will establish dedicated communication channels and hotlines for transport operators and the public to report security concerns and operational irregularities,” Ibuzo added. Security personnel were reminded to uphold professionalism and apply regulations uniformly across the sector.

He further called for active community participation, urging stakeholders to attend meetings, provide feedback, and report issues affecting transport operations.
In line with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision for a modern, technology-driven state, the commissioner directed all parks in Anambra to adopt smart-city features, including public conveniences and CCTV surveillance systems, to enhance security and improve overall transport management.
Stakeholders expressed confidence that the reforms will deliver a safer, more efficient, and globally competitive transportation system for residents and visitors in Anambra State.
