The Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, has directed the Nursing Department to conduct daily blood pressure and blood sugar screenings for all staff and visitors at the State Hospital Management Board as part of efforts to promote preventive healthcare and improve workplace wellness.

Dr. Ifeanaeme gave the directive while speaking with a health correspondent in his office, explaining that the initiative is aimed at ensuring the continuous monitoring of workers’ health while they carry out their daily responsibilities.

According to him, the programme will facilitate the early detection of health conditions, particularly hypertension and diabetes-related complications, enabling prompt medical intervention before they develop into serious emergencies.

The Hospital Administrator emphasized that the health and well-being of workers remain a priority, stressing the need to prevent avoidable health crises and sudden deaths.

“We do not want to witness situations where workers slump and die when such cases could have been prevented through early detection and timely intervention,” he said.

Dr. Ifeanaeme noted that the establishment of similar health monitoring units across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) would significantly enhance early diagnosis and treatment of common health conditions, reducing both health risks and treatment costs.

He further disclosed that the screening services are provided free of charge and are available every weekday, from Monday to Friday, encouraging staff members and visitors to take advantage of the opportunity to regularly assess their health status.

The initiative highlights the critical role of routine health screenings in preventing sudden medical emergencies, improving productivity and fostering a healthier workforce across the public service.
