‎Gozie Anyachebelu Polytechnic, Onitsha, an institution of the Diocese on the Niger, held its second matriculation ceremony, formally admitting 105 students into various programmes of the institution. The ceremony, held at the Knight Abbey Hall of All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha on August 8, was marked by excitement and gratitude as the institution welcomed the new students and reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, entrepreneurship and technological development.
‎
‎Addressing the gathering, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Mrs. Chioma Abone, thanked God for the successful ceremony and congratulated the newly admitted students on becoming members of the institution. She urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them, particularly in science and technology-related fields, while pursuing their studies with diligence, discipline and faith in God.
‎

‎The Rector also commended the Proprietor of the Polytechnic, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, for his continued support and commitment to advancing education. Mrs. Abone disclosed that the Polytechnic is benefiting from the Diocesan full scholarship scheme approved for 120 students, adding that 105 students were matriculated during the ceremony.
‎
‎She explained that the number included 75 newly admitted National Diploma (ND) Year One students who are beneficiaries of the full scholarship programme. The Rector expressed appreciation to the Bishop for the initiative, assuring that the institution would continue to provide quality education and ensure that the beneficiaries make meaningful progress in their academic pursuits.
‎
‎Also speaking, the Supervisor of the Polytechnic, Dr. Elsie Nonyelum Nwokolo, congratulated the newly matriculated students and urged them to remain committed, disciplined and dependent on God throughout their academic journey.
‎She encouraged the students to maximise their time at the institution, noting that their Polytechnic education could serve as a major turning point in their lives if approached with determination and hard work.
‎

‎In her goodwill message, the Bishop’s wife prayed for the students, asking God to grant them wisdom, strength and grace to successfully complete their studies.
‎
‎Delivering the keynote address, Sir Emmanuel Chukwuma Ibeneme, challenged the students to embrace entrepreneurship and technology, which he described as key drivers of global transformation. He urged them to cultivate diligence, hard work, vision and optimism, stressing that these qualities would help prepare them for greater opportunities and success in the future.
‎
‎The ceremony also featured the graduation of 18 students from the Techpreneurship Department, 2024/2025 Batch B, underscoring the Polytechnic’s emphasis on practical skills, entrepreneurship and technology-driven education.
‎
‎In recognition of his contributions to humanity and service to society, Sir Ibeneme was presented with an Award of Humanitarian Service. The second matriculation ceremony ended on a celebratory note as the institution congratulated the newly admitted students and urged them to remain focused, disciplined and committed to making the most of their academic journey.
