The Anambra State Government has disbursed the sum of#3.5 billion as start up funds to the beneficiaries of 1youth 2skills second phase program.
Disbursing the funds to the beneficiaries of the second phase numbering 8300 youths at the International Convention center Awka, Prof. Soludo described the program as a vital tool for human capital development.
He urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the funds to become self employed and become employers of labour, adding that they have received adequate trainings on various skills.

Governor Soludo commended the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University for partnership and congratulated the graduating youths, urging them to take bold steps in putting what they learned into practice to guarantee their success.
Earlier in his address during the ceremony, the state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba had described the program as very ‘broad based’ and ‘encompassing’ as several other sub programs were integral part of 1 youth 2skills program such as retraining and certification for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) value reorientation and reformation.
He also said that the program was designed to redefine youth employment from immediate consumption to more of productive, innovative and impactive programs through community based approach.
Commissioner Agha Mba further said that the program is an evolution to take the youth to next level massive economic revolution and also appreciate the Director Unizik Business School, the ministry’s involved and 1 Youth 2 Skills ANSEC Committee for their efforts in making the program a success.
One of the participants from Awka South, Bagbile Daniel Kehinde, a Corps Member from Ogun State, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo, the Anambra State Government, and partners of the 1Youth 2Skills program for their inclusivity and empowerment. He highlighted how the initiative, through UNIZIK Business School, provided corps members with entrepreneurial and apprenticeship training. Personally trained in cinematography, he now works professionally, becoming self-reliant and productive. Speaking on behalf of fellow corps members, he appreciated the government’s investment in youth, affirming it as an investment in Nigeria’s future.
Some of the participants who spoke during the graduation ceremony expressed heart felt gratitude to the state government and commended the ministry for the privilege given to them to acquire more knowledge through training and said that the program is the best.
The graduands were very happy with the Mr. Governor’s support to enable them to start up their own business.
In attendance are Deputy Governor Dr. Ibezim, members of Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), traditional rulers, clergy, and other dignitaries.
