The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, hosted the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her first official visit to strengthen the Renewed Hope Initiative, launch the national community food bank, promote economic empowerment, and support vulnerable citizens at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, on September 10.
Governor Soludo pledged to extend the Food Bank program to communities and primary healthcare centres to improve food security, household supplies, agricultural value chains, and community resilience.
“We will bring it down to our communities via the ‘Onyeaghala Nwanne ya’ cooperative society in our wards, which will be launched soon, creating a framework with a society that leaves no one behind,” he stated.
Welcoming the First Lady and other dignitaries, the Governor emphasised collective effort for Nigeria’s progress: “We all own Nigeria, and our responsibility is to make it great. Let’s do it together. God bless Mr President, you all, and Nigeria.”
Senator Tinubu thanked the crowd for the warm reception and said the community food bank is central to the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which focuses on grassroots development, hunger reduction, and human capital enhancement. “Today marks the final day of launching the community food bank across the southeast, covering all six geopolitical zones,” she said.
Mrs Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra, thanked Senator Tinubu and other governors’ wives for their presence. She remarked on the positive impact of her Renewed Hope Initiatives on vulnerable groups. She announced that 5,000 beneficiaries, including women, farmers, and disabled persons, will be empowered to improve their livelihoods.
Mrs. Soludo also wished her a happy birthday in advance and God’s blessings for her efforts.
Later, the First Lady was conferred the chieftaincy title of ‘Ugoeze Anambra’ by HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council.
