OGIDI (Anambra), Sept. 22, 2026 (MOI) — Heavy rainfall has caused flooding on the Old Enugu-Onitsha Road at Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra, disrupting movement along the route.
The flooding rendered parts of the road impassable, forcing motorists and other road users to seek alternative routes.
Some residents and road users who spoke with journalists expressed concern over the recurring flooding in the area during the rainy season.
Mr. Okey Ozoh, a shuttle driver plying the Onitsha Agulu route, said the flooding had become a major challenge for motorists.
Ozoh said the situation often prolonged travel time and increased fuel consumption as drivers were forced to take alternative routes.

Miss Juliet Onyekaso, a resident of the area, said the road usually became difficult to access after heavy rainfall due to waterlogging.
Onyekaso said residents and motorists were often compelled to use alternative routes whenever the road was flooded.
She advised road users to exercise caution and consider alternative routes during periods of heavy rainfall.
Onyekaso also appealed to the government to address the recurring flooding and provide a lasting solution to the problem.
