Federal Polytechnic Oko, under the leadership of its Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, on July 22 took another significant step towards institutional excellence with the successful organisation of a comprehensive orientation programme for its newly recruited academic and non-academic staff.
The orientation programme, which brought together newly employed academic and non-academic staff, was designed to acquaint participants with the polytechnic’s vision, operational procedures and work ethics as they begin their careers in public service.
The Rector, Dr Awuzie described the orientation as a strategic investment in the polytechnic’s human capital, stressing that the quality of any institution is largely determined by the commitment, competence, and character of its workforce.

She charged the newly recruited staff to demonstrate integrity, discipline, professionalism, innovation, and teamwork in the discharge of their duties, while upholding the core values of the institution.
Dr Awuzie reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to staff development, continuous learning, and creating an enabling environment that promotes excellence in teaching, research, administration, and community service.
Participants were taken through a series of comprehensive sessions covering public service ethics, effective communication, administrative procedures, institutional regulations, customer relations, workplace conduct, and other best practices essential for efficient service delivery within a modern polytechnic system.
The participants also expressed profound appreciation to the rector and management of the institution for organizing what they described as a highly enriching and impactful orientation programme. They further noted that the exercise had equipped them with the requisite knowledge, skills, and confidence to contribute effectively to the continued growth, development, and transformation of the institution.
