The Enugwu-Ukwu Community concluded its 2026 “Igu aro’ festival in grand style with the conferment of chieftaincy titles to many prominent Nigerian citizens.
In a message to the occasion, the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu HRM Igwe Ralph Ekpe,(Eze Enugwu-Ukwu Na Igwe Umunri’) showered his royal blessings to his subjects and well wishers and proclaimed peace, love and unity in the new year.
Igwe Ekpe also prayed for the prosperity of the Enugwu-Ukwu indigenes, Anambra State and Igbos in general.
He cautioned people with bad intentions in the society to repent from their evil ways or stand to reap the reward of their wickedness.
He congratulated all the awardees conferred with chieftaincy titles and urged them to contribute meaningfully toward the development of the Enugwu-Ukwu Community and also work for the good of the less privileged in the society.
Some prominent people in Anambra State were conferred with Chieftaincy titles such as Dr.Tochukwu Mbachi, President Awka Capital Friends Club, former Chairman Anambra State Nigerian Medical Association among other positions who bagged the chieftaincy title “Ayilinanya’ Enugwu Ukwu Na Umunri’ alongside his wife Lady Ifeoma Mbachi who also bagged the chieftaincy title”Udoamaka Enugwu- Ukwu Na Umunri’, Dr.Obinna Iyiegbu also known as Obi Cubana who bagged the chieftaincy title “Ife Igbo Ji Kam Mba’ alongside his wife Chief Mrs Iyiegbu who also bagged a chieftaincy title among others.
The occasion was graced by the Anambra State Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council and the Traditional Ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka IV, other traditional rulers of note, among other prominent Igbo citizens and friends from beyond.
Highpoints on the occasion were cultural dances, and masquerade displays.
