The Chief Medical Director, El-do-Rado Multi Specialist Hospital Awka Prof. Chiemelu Emegoakor, has paid glowing tribute to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for improving the state primary healthcare delivery in the three senatorial zones of the state.
In a press statement in Awka, Prof. Emegoakor observed that his administration has improved on reforms in the state health insurance policy, made accessibility to free antenatal/postnatal and caesarian operations for expectant mothers in the state public health institutions available.
He urged that in his second term in office, efforts should be made to improve the primary healthcare delivery in the state to minimize the rate of maternal and infant deaths.
The medical expert made a special appeal to the governor to provide more assistance by making funds available, interrogating lapses in the system and addressing its confronting challenges.
He lamented that it is unacceptable for expectant mothers to give up the ghost in the cause of their deliveries, and expects that with government intervention, mothers will smile home with their babies.
Prof. Emegoakor used the forum to felicitate with Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu the new Chief Medical Director of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Awka, expecting the medical expert to use her wealth of experience to put more life in the institution.
He urged expectant mothers to take their antenatal and post natal care seriously.
